Cardinals Tagxedo.jpg
Tagxedo is a website where you can create word clouds similar to the one I've created above. Word clouds can be used to show which words have been used repeatedly throughout a book, article, website, song, etc. We are going to be creating two word clouds to use on our Wikispaces.

With the image above, I copied the URL for this website and pasted it into the first option on the right side of the Tagxedo homepage. Once I clicked "Submit," the website searched the link for all of the words that were used repeatedly and created a starting image for me to work with. From there, I took time to sort through colors, fonts, the design, and which words I wanted to use. To change out which words I wanted, I clicked on "Word | Layout Options" and chose "Skip," then skipped several of the words that were not interesting.

With the one to the left, I used the news option and searched for "St. Louis Cardinals." I did not change many of the features, but I did choose to skip several of the words that I did not feel were relevant to the Cardinals, such as "Boston," "Sox," "Patriots," and "Arizona."

For today, you are going to be creating two images in Tagxedo. When you finish with each image, make sure you download it to your computer. Once you go away from the editing page, the image is gone forever!

  1. The first image you will create will be based on your Google Site that you created. Go to the homepage of your site and copy the URL. Paste the URL into the homepage for Tagxedo under the option for URL. Make several changes to the original design, such as changing the shape, colors, fonts, etc. You will probably want to skip words like "Google," "Site," and anything else that does not relate to your website. When you finish, save the image and insert it on the Google Sites page of your wiki.
  2. For your second image, you can choose the topic (within reason - there should not be any inappropriate words involved). Make the necessary changes that you would like to make. There should definitely be evidence that you have made edits! When you finish this image, save it and paste it to the bottom of your homepage on your wiki. Under the image, write a quick summary of the edits that you made on your image.

Good luck!
